About five months ago I decided to let my car go. It was a 1996 Toyota that I had for almost 8 years. This car had gone to so many places with me and had been a great form of transportation for many years. Although I had a switch in my mind, what if I could travel without a car? Could it be done? How much money could I save? How much would this help the environment? How much gas would I save? The list was endless. I could only think of a few reasons why I should keep it and 100 reasons why I shouldn’t.
Minimalism is key to a more travel filled life!
Since getting rid of my car the only downside is convenience- but on the upside, I find that I manage to make the most of the long commutes. I found that I spend a lot more time reading, writing, contemplating, learning, and listening than I ever did before. I also found that I have started to save a lot more money by taking public transportation. Yes, there is the monthly fee for the pass but I save the cost of car insurance, gas, repair fees.
If you have been debating on a similar issue in your life and you live in a place that you can access a form of public transportation, you desire more travel, and more freedom, I say don’t wait any longer list, sell, or donate your car and start living a more freeing life!
