This hostel is one of the most chic places I stayed in all of Sri Lanka! From it’s super friendly and helpful staff to it’s very finely crafted aesthetic it is a must-visit when traveling to Sri Lanka.
My first night here I arrived very late but was quickly welcomed in to my spacious four bed hostel room. I was put into the top bunk and after dropping my bags I got settled in my bed. The top bunk was so incredibly comfortable! It was high up like a tree house and closed off with a little wall. You are given a towel and a large cozy comforter with a puffy pillow for your AC room.
The morning breakfast is large with an assortment of fresh fruits, bread, and your choice of tea or coffee. I work while I travel so I would start my days at my laptop down at the main dining table. It was a great place to meet other like-minded travelers.
In the afternoons and evenings, I could walk over to any type of restaurant I wanted to. The area was also great to catch an Uber to go to other further distances throughout the city.
I got to meet and connect with the owner of this hostel. He was a kind man who had done his fair share of traveling. Enough so, in fact, that he even wants to start his own company back in Colombo where he is from.
A little bit about the owner
My visions for the hotel stems purely from my travel experiences. I am inspired when I travel, but I have always felt that traditional hotels restrict my creativity and makes me less social. Therefore, I started trying to find hotels/hostels that provide a sense of community. This introduced me to a new hybrid hotel concept, which I thought provided the homeliness of Airbnb and the comfort of the Hilton. I noticed the gap for similar hotels around the world, but being Sri Lankan, I noticed it most here at home. I decided to build it myself, and gave up my high powered wall street career for a modest beginning as a hotelier. I could not be happier. We opened our doors this year and welcomed all our guests with a smile.
